Family Business in Hospitality, IMD and EHL join forces to offer a unique kind of training

Family businesses generate between 35 and 65% of the Swiss and European GNP. What’s more, it is a widespread business structure within the Hospitality industry.

In this context, two leading global institutions; EHL (Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne) and IMD (International Institute for Management Development) in management education have developed a new executive programme specifically targeted at family businesses in hospitality.

The objective of this high-end programme is to understand and manage the unique challenges and strategic issues that confront family-owned businesses in the hospitality industry.

This programme is aimed at members of family-owned businesses within the hospitality industry, including the new generation stepping into the business, senior non-family executives and board members.

FBH Family Business in Hospitality lasts for five days and will take place for the first time from 24 to 28 September 2012 at both EHL and IMD. The courses are given in English by Professors from IMD and EHL.

Key subjects of this programme are: growth strategies from an ownership perspective, generational transition planning, governance structures for family, ownership and business, communication and relationship issues, definition of Business Models, *NTIC , trends and innovation in IT, and an on-site visit and case study.

“IMD and EHL are joining forces in addressing a big learning gap in the hospitality industry: helping families to successfully integrate long term family ownership with the most effective business leadership strategy,” stated Professor Schwass, Co-director of the FBH.
